Baltimore Green: Green Jobs Now!
Baltimore, MD
September 27, 2008 10:00AM to 12:30PM
Hosted by Holly Gorman
In Baltimore, the Chesapeake Climate Action Network is teaming up with the Entrepreneurial Training University to host an event to educate, encourage and empower the local community to increase participation in and awareness of the green jobs movement. Green-collar jobs will pull people out of poverty and improve the planet we all live on and we need your support!
Co-sponsors include: Green For All, 1Sky, The We Campaign, MD League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice, Network of Spiritual Progressives, Peer to Peer, Chesapeake Sustainable Business Alliance, Chesapeake Physicians for Social Responsibility, GreenWorks, Baltimore Green Works, Sierra Club - Greater Baltimore Group, New South Clifton Park Community Association, Parks and People, and Baltimore Citizens for Positive Change.
What’s Happening: A rally calling on our elected officials to prioritize green jobs. We will gather at the bandstand at Lake Clifton Park, across the street from the location where the Entrepreneurial Training University is working to implement a green jobs training program. There, we will call on our elected officials to fully fund the Green Jobs Act of 2007, so that places like the ETU and other green jobs training programs, such as B’more Green, can continue making a difference right here in Baltimore. We’ll also send the message loud and clear that we want bold legislation for green-collar jobs in the first 100 days of the next presidency.
The day will open with an job-training fair, where individuals will have an opportunity to learn about green jobs training in Baltimore, as well as learn more about green jobs in general.
Where: The Bandstand at Clifton Park, off of Saint Lo Dr.
When: Saturday, September 27th. Tables with information about job training opportunities set up by 10. Speakers to begin at 11, and end around noon.
2801 St. Lo Dr
The Clifton Park Bandstand is located across the street from Heritage High School (located at 2801 St. Lo Dr), just south of the Clifton Park Golf Course. Park in the school parking lot, then cross the street - the bandstand is clearly visible.
