Green Opportunities Now!
On September 27th 2008, Green 4 All, 1 Sky, the WE campaign and supporters of the green collar jobs movement all across the nation, are launching A National Day of Action called: Green Jobs Now! Every community event will collect signatures for the 'I'm Ready' petition and participate in a community photo to send to congress letting them know that Asheville is ready for green jobs and a green economy!
To represent Asheville, Green Opportunities (GO!) and the Pisgah View Community Peace Garden will host an empowering educational event to increase awareness and participation in the green jobs movement. Attendees will enjoy keynote speakers, music, food, entertainment, and of course, participate in the community photo!
Most importantly, we are highlighting the launch of the Asheville Green Opportunity Corps (Asheville GO), a paid training program designed to prepare disconnected young adults for green careers through community and environmental service.
Learn how youth enrolled in Asheville GO are at the forefront off greening our local economy as they gain valuable job skills while addressing local environmental and social concerns like water availability, skyrocketing energy and food costs, and environmental degradation.
All attendees will walk away from this event knowing how they can support local efforts that promote green-collar jobs and a more just and sustainable local economy.
Please join us!
