Event Description:

Launch of YEAR OF GREEN Program Pilot

• The U.S. Green Schools Foundation (www.usgreenschools.org) has developed a place-based education program to introduce K-8 students to broad environmental topics relating to sustainability, with a focus on global warming, environmental and student health, and environmental stewardship.

• The program provides lesson plans aligned to a calendar of environmental events to provide an overall structure for teaching and a reason for celebration of our Earth. Relevant, local outreach resources are suggested to provide expertise and enriched understanding of each topic.
