Green Jobs Now
Event Report

By:Zoey Burrows

In Richmond California we came together to celebrate SolarRichmondBUILD graduates who have recently been employed in the solar field. Richmond residents, local politicians, non-profits and business owners came together to support these green-collar workers who hope to serve as a model for folks around the country looking for a better way of life.

We had an inspiring panel of recently trained green-collar workers moderated by Solar Richmond Executive Director Michele McGeoy. We also heard words of support from Richmond's Mayor Gayle McLaughlin and Executive Director of West County Toxics Coalition, Dr. Henry Clarke, an environmental justice advocate. There was also a choice of workshops for attendees to attend and learn from as well as a yard sale fundraiser to sponsor paid internships for our program graduates.
