Organic food and local band provided a beautiful foundation for this conjoining event, in which organizations and clubs came together from the local area and surrounding suburbs, to demand green jobs. We were able to communicate with other like-minded people, find other members from "PowerVote" (which is an org, with which i associate) and discover new resources available, such as "green roofs" etc.

There were also presentations given about green jobs such as the BEST program, that helps people get off the streets, provides them with training and eventually a solid job that is great for the environment.

It was a great time!

Great band (name soon to come hopefully)

On September 27, Sustainable South Bronx joined with Green Worker Cooperatives to celebrate the promise of a green economy! We had live music from Architects and Demolition Men, FIYAWATA, and the South Bronx's own youth bands, Four Most Wanted and Frozen Society. Graduates from the Bronx Environmental Stewardship Training (BEST) program shared their green collar success stories, and we heard about green entrepreneurship opportunities from the South Bronx Food Coop and Rebuilder's Source Coop. We also had healthy cooking demonstrations, home improvement demonstrations, CFL giveaways, kids' face painting, voter registration, tasty food, and more.
